Sandra Izsadore, the former lady love of the legendary musician and political activist Fela Anikulapo-Kuti has resurfaced on the music scene with a new CD dedicated to Fela Kuti. The CD titled “Nigeria" is the rebirth of the Afro Beat sounds created by her and Fela in the 1970’s. Sandra is a singer-composer who met and revitalized Fela Kuti upon his arrival to the US. Afro Beat is popular among world music fans and now gaining even more recognition worldwide due to the Tony award winning Broadway musical “Fela" about the life of Fela Kuti and his lady love Sandra Izsadore. The Broadway musical starred Patti LaBelle who played the role of Fela’s mother and Saycon Sengbloh playing the role of Sandra. Sandra’s new CD is a mix of R&B, Funk, Jazz, Reggae, Hip Hop and Afro beat Guitar Rhythms. The message and music is powerful and a must listen to.
